Key Notes for Employers
UPLA is entirely employer-funded — 0.75% of wages, no employee deduction. Up to 12 weeks parental + 12 weeks family + 12 weeks medical + 2 weeks prenatal. Job protection not built into UPLA — depends on federal FMLA, DC FMLA, or employer policy. DC PFL operates separately from FMLA; benefits paid directly to employees by DOES. DC Code §§ 32-541.01 et seq. (UPLA); §§ 32-131.01 et seq. (sick/safe leave).
