Key Notes for Employers
Effective October 1, 2022 (D.C. Law 23-209 as amended by 24-175). Among the strictest non-compete jurisdictions in the country. Confidentiality and trade-secret provisions remain permissible but cannot function as de facto non-competes. Penalty: $350–$1,000 per violation per employee; relief includes lost compensation and attorney fees. DC Code § 32-581.01 et seq.
